After the designation of Isfahan as the capital city during the era of Shah Abbas I and by his order, Chaharbagh Abbasi and Chaharbagh Bala boulevard were built . By the order of Reza Shah Pahlavi, Chaharbagh Payeen boulevard was also built with the same design as the Safavid Chaharbagh.
In the past, there was a water stream going through the street towards the Zayandehroud (Isfahan’s river), and ponds were also built at the intersections. In the boulevard, there was a special path for horse riders, and on both sides , Plane trees were planted in two rows and parallel to the street .
